BiOpet Wild Sanctuary Mix
BiOpet Wild Sanctuary Mix is designed for Australian native birds – both companion birds and wild birds which are attracted to your garden. It is important to introduce the new food slowly and not overfeed. Observe for any wasted or uneaten food as a sign of overfeeding.
A source of fresh clean water, changed daily is a must, as well as a clean dry place for your bird’s food.
Companion Birds Feeding Guidelines:
BiOpet Wild Sanctuary Mix provides a complete and balanced diet for companion birds.
This mix should be introduced over a 12 -14 day period starting at 1 part BiOpet to 3 parts old diet, after 3-4 days gradually increase the proportion to 50%. If your companion bird is adjusting well to the new diet increase the BiOpet portion to 75% between 9 - 14 days. By then your companion bird should be completely converted to BiOpet Wild Sanctuary Mix.
Wild Bird Feeding Guidelines:
It is important not to make Native Birds totally dependent on artificial feed so the key is to supplement their native diet with BiOpet Wild Sanctuary Mix. Most homeowners want to attract Native Birds to their garden for the colour and sound they bring, but it is important to provide as natural and safe an environment as possible.
A source of clean fresh water is vital, there are a large number of birdbaths available and it is a good idea to place it close to shrubs and trees to give the birds protection from predators. The birdbath should be shallow (no more than 3cm of water) so if it is too deep you can fill with pebbles to provide a safe depth. Water should be changed regularly to keep the bath and any feeding dishes clean.
Protein is needed for the health of skin, muscles, feathers and other body tissues. A protein deficiency can lead to beak and feather abnormalities, anaemia and other health problems.
Vitamins and minerals are needed for the bird's metabolism whilst fats are an essential energy source and assist with the absorption of the fat soluble vitamins - A, D, E and K.
